Jump in to feed

Like penguins popping out of the ocean onto the beach, we are born of the Ocean of Consciousness.

And like penguins returning to the sea to feed, we return to this Ocean through our yoga and meditation practices. We return to the source of our being, this infinite Ocean of Consciousness, again and again.

Practice… jump in!

Breathe and be inspired

spire–Latin root for “breatheā€

There is no telling what will transpire as we do our yoga and meditation.

Breathe in deep, breathe out long.

Through the practices, as we respire, may the energies of our being conspire to inspire us to be more deeply rooted and firmly grounded reaching for and uplifted by the heavens!

That’s the spirit!

This quieter mind

The uncluttered mind is spacious.

Our yoga and meditation can help the mind grow quieter and discover its spaciousness, when less thought-filled and not so busy with thought.

Like a desert stretching in all directions, vast, this quieter mind.

Returning to the pristine heart

The pristine heart is always there.

There are those of us who do not know it exists.

And there are those of us who know it exists, but find it hard to feel it at times. It is often forgotten or lost touch with.

The practices can return us to it, again and again, or maybe give us just a glimpse.

With practice, we learn how to go to it more easily, more often… and maybe one day not leave it all?

Such is the practice!

The pristine heart remains

Like the notes and chords of a piano, the varied thoughts and emotions play on the heart of our being.

Their sounds come and go, some linger a while, some not.

The pristine heart is the witness of all these–melodies and/or cacophonies, symphonies, concertos, little ditties… stray notes, some sharp, discordant at times….

The pristine heart remains.

May we always return to this pristine heart to refresh, renew and gain perspective.

What notes will play upon it today?… tomorrow?

Smile, the pristine heart is the perfect witness of life’s play. Smile in it peace.

Thank the mind

A restless mind is what drives many of us to yoga and meditation.

Thank it.

The mind turned inward during yoga and meditation can explore the inner terrain to discover the source of these thoughts and feelings.

Thank it.

Renew!

Extend blessings to family, friends, and to this planet and all its inhabitants at this time of renewal.

Set intentions that renew your heart’s aspirations.

Become an agent of the common good, wanting and working for that which benefits not just you and yours but everyone involved.

Refresh and renew at this cusp of the years 2022/2023.

As this new year begins, we can take a few moments with yoga and meditation to smile at this opportunity for renewal.

And we can do this every time we practice on the mat or on the mediation cushion.

It’s time to renew!

Happy New Year!

Relationship advice

A swami once told me: “It’s all about the relationship….”

Through our yoga and meditation practices, we develop and nurture our relationship with the universal, the Kundalini Shakti, and we deepen our experience of it.

As we practice with this focus, the Force itself will deepen our relationship with it. It will be both our guide and, simultaneously, That with which we merge more and more. The Force itself, as we practice, removes blockages that hinder or occlude its effulgent flow.

It’s all about the relationship!

The life of the party!

Feelin’ a little frazzled, beat, overrun or overwhelmed? Got the holiday blues? Or just need a pick-me-up or more energy to go?

Just a little yoga or meditation help with this. Try a few poses, or Legs Up the Wall, or a few minutes of meditation or breathing (pranayama).

Even a little bit of help can be a lot.

Breathe in some prana, imbibe an extra shot of the life force, and you may become the life of your party.

We are like sponges

You know those dehydrated sponges, all shrunk up and small? And when you add water, they almost miraculously expand and come to life.

Well, yoga and meditation are about the same… bringing us more to life and expansive.

Soak this up when you practice! Expand your being and your heart.

Just like that dehydrated sponge, the prana shakti grows us!
