No surgeon general’s warning here

We all know that most intoxicants such as alcohol have their negative side effects as well as the high, escape, and pleasure we seek.

However, the highs and positive vibrations from our yoga and meditation–the sips and even, at times, the gulps of uplifting energies or elixirs we imbibe resonate in our being and lives, only to improve our being and those around us.

Safe… and intoxicating, good for me and those around me.

Salud, santé! To your health and well-being!

Under the influence!

Psst, I have a secret I’d better tell you.

I am living under the influence!

At times, intoxicating.

This every day yogi is living under the influence of the kundalini or Prana Shakti, the divine creative force–uplifting, ever-centering, blissful, full of joy, love, and peace.

Join me in some yoga and meditation, and let’s take a sip and get under the influence together!

Party on!

The engine of our yoga

As we sit in meditation, breathing in and out of the heart, we can feel the hum of the engine of life life. Great yogis say it is the Prana Shakti vibrating with love throughout our being.

What is your experience of this power that lifts us through and above the clouds and weather of existence in meditation and yoga?

This power carries us through their “turbulence”–sometimes relatively calm, sometimes bumpy, sometimes harrowing–before we can rise above.

What is this engine that powers such a journey?

Forecast of the heart

Breathe in and out of the heart. And let the vital force winds, the prana, blow away what ails you and carry you to love.

As you breathe in and out of your heart, the clouds will become apparent in the sky of your heart.

So will the ever-present sun!

Responsive and adaptable yoga for changing times, yoga for life

As we “hold” a yoga pose, we practice becoming responsive and adaptable–certain physical and often subtle movements while in a pose give us moment by moment shifts and responses to explore. We think: “Move this thigh back, ground this foot… what happens… we observe… oh, now straighten this arm… ah yes, feel that…”

As we explore our yoga poses, we train ourselves to be present, responsive, and adaptable. As best we can, constantly pivoting to adapt to the present circumstances and conditions.

The times we live in demand it of us!

The above pictured manzanita virtually growing out of the sheer rock cliff, hanging on and ostensibly thriving, is quite an example of being responsive to the circumstances and adapting!
