The synergy of inner peace

The peace of yoga does not have to be about walking away from or avoiding a problem, but it can be more about walking away from a perspective that is problematical, shifting one’s point of view.

The peace of yoga can help loosen one’s attachment from a perspective that might be problematical to see things in an entirely different way.

Inner peace really can be the fulcrum for change and understanding…

and the way to even greater inner peace.

The miracle tool

At times, life is like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

Laughter is the miracle tool like the lathe that can round off the pointed corners and make everything fit.

It, like yoga and meditation, can shift our perspective so markedly that the unsolvable seems solvable or, sometimes even more remarkably, no longer a problem at all.

Not sleepy time!

It’s quite common that meditation can be so calming and relaxing that it draws us out of alertness into sleep.

This is no problem if you’ve been having trouble sleeping or lack rest.

The question in meditation is how to stay alert in this calmness and ease we so often associate with sleep.

The secret ingredient is alertness and inquisitiveness about this calmness and ease. This brings a sense of aliveness and enthusiasm within this ease.

Diving within

In most meditation traditions, we close our eyes and draw our senses inward.*

This slows the outward going tendencies of the mind and turns the amazing power and light of our awareness inward.

Attention to breath, we begin to grow quieter and explore.

Unlike a deep sea diver, we need no special equipment. We are already suited-up and equipped to explore this inner world.

*This withdrawal of the senses and turning inward is the yoga practice of pratyahara as described by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras.

Taking a walk with the breath

Like the rhythmic waves of the ocean, the waves of the breath will take you home.

It’s so easy to forget the lesson of the tortoise and the hare in this fast-paced world. Let the rhythm of your breath slow you down and calm your frazzled nerves.

Take a walk with the rhythm of your breath in your yoga and meditation practice.
