Extraordinarily ordinary

The first Yoga Sutra goes: Now, the practice begins. Atha yoganusasanam.

As we enter this phase of, hopefully, the post-pandemic world, as we unfurl from this pandemic, we are different, and so is the world.

We may be discovering the uniqueness of our “ordinary” life we have had to forgo–the extraordinary in the ordinary.

Now, in this moment, the practice begins!

Won’t you embark with me in this practice?

Lifting the veil!

At the start of yoga and meditation practices, we step from our busy life into a realm of being that is totally natural to us.

Whether we take a few slow deep breaths, say a prayer or mantra, close our eyes and set an intention, or… we lift a veil that often, in our busy-ness, occludes our experience of something greater than ourselves.

We begin to align. We may grow more peaceful, more grounded, maybe more joyful, more present, or accepting and compassionate… we lift the veil further as we practice….

It is the practice!

It’s only natural.

A natural recycling center

We all get gunked up, at times, with certain difficult or junky feelings that weigh us down and can cause problems for us and others. It’s only human.

We can offer them in our yoga and meditations to the Prana Shakti, to the creative life force. We can take them to our heart and through the alchemy of the practices. They become transformed or recycled.

Let’s meet up on the mat, and take a trip to our natural recycling center!

Yoked to for life!

The practices–yoga poses, meditation, pranayama (breath work), etc–align us with the oneness that always is, with this great life force, the Prana, that is alive and dancing within and literally enlivening all of us and all of life.

The practices align us with that which we are yoked to for life, with the yoga that we are.

Our most intimate inquiries

Who am I in this menagerie of change from infant, to child, to teen, to young adult, to possibly parent… grandparent, maturing into older ages… and hopefully old age?

Who am I with cells replacing cells, so that eventually none of me is who I was?

Who am I?

Yoga and meditation are among our most intimate conversations and inquiries into this mystery we are yoked to for life.
