Like falling in love, we fall into meditation.
The practices of taking a grounding seat, watching the breath, repeating a mantra, etc. set up optimum conditions to allow or invite meditation to happen.
It is like laying out the doormat to welcome meditation.
You may know the story of the blind men and the elephant–they all felt different parts of the creature and argued about what the animal actually was till they understood they were feeling different parts of the same thing and that they had to put all their perspectives together to know the animal.
What if this were true of all of us in this world–if, like the blind men, we are “seeing” life and feeling it from our limited perspective, and that, in truth, we are all merely another piece of the exact same animal–life, the amazingly diverse “animal” we all are part of?
How would we be then in this world if we realized this?
As the mind grows quieter in yoga and meditation, it drops into the heart.
As we put our effort into doing the practices, at points, this happens.
Sometimes, things come in life we would not seek or maybe not even want that, in the end, draw us deeper into love.
Life’s lessons often come in the weirdest disguises!
Sometimes, needless to say, our view of our heart is murky, impeded.
Yoga and meditation help clear this up and keep us aligned or in resonance with the ever-present song of our heart.
Three chakras or energy centers below the heart–the more earthly and grounding; three chakras or energy centers above the heart–the more ethereal and uplifting…
The heart’s song of love melds them in harmony, in yoga!

The O’Jay sang about it many years ago, and we are a long way away from it these days in this Covid fearful world filled with so much hatred, but we can all make the effort to join hands–red and blue states, black and white and all the shades in between, straights… gays… and all those betwixt…, christians… jews… muslims… buddhists… hindus… non-theists… agnostics…, come on people, let’s make the effort to join hands, and hearts, and get on the LOVE TRAIN.
Lord knows we need it, our planet needs it. “People all over the world, join hands, start a love train…”
With 7 chakras or energy centers, the heart is the juncture of the 3 below more earthly ones and the 3 below more ethereal.
The heart is the hub which integrates these energies bringing earth to heaven and heaven to earth.
Love is the potent alchemy that unites it all.

The fire of yoga and meditation transmutes our more base tendencies such as fear, anger, and jealousy.
This is a natural purification process that happens as we do the practices.
