There is no one there to prove you’ve done the yoga pose “correctly” or meditation “the right way.”
Again, the sound of one hand clapping!

Again, the sound of one hand clapping!
At times, life has us all feeling like a cat tossed up in the air.
And like that tumbling cat that miraculously lands on its paws, yoga and meditation most graciously help us adjust to our midair flight and to land on and feel solid ground from which to rise again, and again.
We are visitors together for a time, this life force and this body.
Most intimate, with great love and respect for one another, they smile at this opportunity to be together.
Meditation and yoga are an inquiry and celebration of their constantly evolving union in time together.
Bliss is all encompassing. It accepts all of life’s pains and sorrows in the heart. It reminds you that most pains will pass, and certainly makes them more tolerable.
They become transmitted by bliss opening us more and deeper to all of life. It picks us up again and again no matter how low we feel. It is a built-in recovery system that reaffirms life and love again, and again… and again.
May such bliss be at the heart of our yoga and meditation practices!
In meditation and yoga, there’s a force that draws the attention inward like a magnet.
It naturally draws our attention and slows, and at times even stills, the activity of the mind.
In this space where less is more, we receive so much!
We are more apt to feel the miracle of life when around a pregnant woman or a newborn.
Maybe with a beautiful first rose and its sweet and spicy scent,
Maybe at a sunset or beautiful vista, or at the ocean….
Yoga and meditation can awaken and deepen your awareness and experience of you yourself as a miracle–each and every one of us, as a miracle–
of this life we share for a time together
as a miracle.
Bliss is the mountaintop of yoga and meditation.
Through the practices, we climb from the base of the mountain to its peak.
Bliss, ananda, is the mountaintop!
Through yoga and meditation, we gradually and repeatedly align and realign ourselves with the prana, or life force.
Over time, this changes our orientation to ourselves and the world.
Certain actions in your daily life might take on the characteristics of a yoga pose–difficult but at ease–grounded yet rising up, centered in the midst of effort.
Your actions in “tense” or stressful situations may not be so carried away by a thought or a feeling. You may become more fluid in conversation, more centered in the flow of events and ideas, more positive and at ease… as in meditation.
On the mat, off the mat. On your meditation cushion, off it…
the lines blur.
In silence, there is nothing, not even you.
Do not worry if you lose yourself in that.
Again and again, in meditation and yoga, lose yourself in that.
You will return and find yourself all the better.
Through yoga and meditation, you can discover and mine a never-ending vein of bliss in your heart.
A blissful heart is a contented heart and slows the traffic of the mind, at times to a complete halt.
In those moments, however brief, all that remains is bliss!
