A spark in the eye,
A smile….
We share our souls
As we breathe this life together.
A spark in the eye,
A smile….
We share our souls
As we breathe this life together.
In meditation, there is an empty space that is so full. Our entire being can come to rest in this space.
In meditation, you can return here again, and again. It is always there, waiting for your return.
A good chuckle at yourself, especially at your tendencies to be anxious or fearful, loosens things up like taking a stiff robot and adding elastic joints and a Gumby rubber body. This adds buoyancy and flexibility where before there were rigidity and tightness.
Denying sadness only intensifies its impact making me its victim. There need not be any victims with sadness, just sad people for a time.
This too shall pass….
The light of day brings perspective to these once nighttime tormentors who loomed so large in the dark.
I will not “solve” these sadnesses with the mind, but I can hold them with my heart.
This is much more than putting on a happy face or gritting one’s teeth and bearing it.
This is love in action!
We train the mind through meditation and yoga to be the witness so it will be there to serve us during difficult times.
The heart’s compassion is the middle way which brings acceptance, not struggle.
May I be a student of compassion!
In meditation, I am carried on currents of breath to the once seemingly distant but now most local of lands, my heart–ever new, awaiting exploration.
There’s more said in silence than in most words.
Sometimes we need to change. What we’ve done in the past just may not work given new and different circumstances.
Yoga can help us adapt and change–we can in time find and trust new spaces in the body and gradually move outside habitual and even chronic patterns. We can discover new ways to be in the body and the mind–new ways to be in the world.
As we open and stretch into and through spaces of resistance into new spaces, we strengthen our core to better hold our center in the midst of change.
In yoga we practice a lot of poses like chair to strengthen our core. This not only gives us better posture, but it literally strengthens our ability to withstand and even flow with difficult times life inevitably brings.
You never know when you or a loved one might get a cancer diagnosis, or lose a job, or fall at an old age and need assisted care…. You never know…
A strong core prepares and supports you for the most difficult, as well as the easy, times. It is always there, patiently holding you up, supporting you with its immense power and strength to greet a new day, to prosper.
You never know when it just might seem like life got up and gave you a horse-kick in the face.
Life can throw a lot at us, and it can, at times, be hard to stomach.
A strong gut, a strong core, can help with all that, and much, much more.
A smile filled with joy has a value no money can buy.
Yoga and meditation open the door to exploring who I am in ways I never dreamed possible.
In so doing, I will come to recognize you too, and smile.
