Good enough is more than enough!

I can’t find a good enough way

to say the “not good enough” mantra

is not the way

to live each day.

It gets in the way

brings dismay

to our way.

Life is gray

not black, not white

in every way not perfect…

That’s all I have to say!

“Good enough” is okay

with gray

in every way.

Effort with love and compassion is more than good enough,

okay?!

A world of possibilities

Most if not all patterns or habits of thought and feeling as well as those of behavior and how we hold our body in space are learned.

If this is so, they can be “unlearned” based on our needs and desires.

This is at the heart of yoga’s and mediation’s transformative power, and our feeling free and alive!

You and I, we are a world of possibilities!

Party-Down!

Like getting dressed for a party, meditation techniques such as watching the breath and/or repeating a mantra prepare us for what’s to come.

Like friendly social skills predispose our party-goer to a good time, a comfortable and steady seated posture predisposes us in meditation.

Much like the party-goer greeted at the door by the host/hostess, the meditation energy greets us at its doorstep and takes our hand.

Let the party begin!

Prepare yourself for life

As the breath runs across the back of the throat with ujjayi breathing, the nervous system settles and calms and becomes more even.

The mind’s turbulence settles.

Joy arises like a smiling child just out of bed to greet the new day.

Steady breath, steady mind…

Stop your worrying.  There’s no problem till there’s a problem.

Steady breath, steady mind…

A honey of a time!

There are moments in yoga and mediation where there is dissolution, a sort of dissolving of our boundaries and a feeling of radiating energy from our chest outward.

Warm and comforting, there’s a melting or merging where “I” no longer seems to exist.  There is energy pulsing, radiating and a connectedness, a feeling of oneness.

This is really letting go!

As we slip back into everyday consciousness, we know we have been somewhere amazing.

These glimpses of samadhi are honey to our body, uplift the heart, and still the mind from its dizzying foray in thoughts.

Yoga and meditation can take us there!

Ommmm!

Waste removal

Like a vulture to carrion, meditation and yoga carry off and recycle the dead weight of our being that unnecessarily limit us, things that once may have been helpful but no longer are.

Natural recyclers!

The elephant in the room

There’s an elephant in the room….

Actually, it’s way bigger than any elephant… or whale… or dinosaur… or mountain.

It’s bigger than all of us on this planet, and bigger than our planet itself.

We all have it, none of us more than another.

It opens the flower.

It lifts the waves to our shores.

It breathes us.

And all too often we miss it, though it’s here with us all the time.

Yoga and meditation gradually wake us to it and bring us peace with it.

We all share it for a time.

There’s an elephant in the room…

Let’s awaken to it!

Offering peace

There is a peace beyond words,

beyond feelings of right and wrong

like a desert landscape that seems to stretch forever,

in a silence that heals

at home with everything that is,

at home with the turmoil, the struggle, the pain.

There is a peace beyond…

where the waves of our breath meet the shore of our being,

there is a peace.

No longer in hiding

That which we seek has always been with us.

Waiting for us.

Occluded by clouds of misunderstanding.

A sort of blindness to what is.

It is the movement in stillness,

The shout in silence,

Even alive in what I’ve most resisted.

The illusion is our not recognizing you and our attention to that which blinds us.

Blind habits and tendencies.

Like a foggy glass pane or mirror yoga and meditation wipe clean

So we can see!
